Moove Driver App
The Moove app is available on both Google Play and App Store in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and India. It serves as the main companion app for Moove drivers, allowing them to monitor their weekly performance, access earnings/loan statements, manage their wallet, access their vehicle/driver/plan details, and receive help from Moove's support channels.
The migration from a legacy Kotlin-based app to React Native required a complete rewrite of the existing codebase, paving the way for future scalability, cross-platform capabilities and increased development velocity. Following the successful migration and feature parity, new feature implementations for new markets were rolled out.
Shipping the app while leading a team of engineers without prior React Native experience presented significant challenges. The somewhat steep learning curve associated with React Native demanded initial technical presentations and knowledge-sharing sessions to bring the team up to speed, focusing on unblocking local development setup and mirroring React Native concepts to familiar web framework concepts.
Balancing the dual responsibilities of a tech lead and individual contributor required meticulous planning, clear communication, and at times effective delegation. Despite the initial hurdles, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration ultimately led to the successful deployment of the app, showcasing the team’s adaptability and commitment to shipping a user-friendly product.
